If you’re using ShootProof as a gallery, you will want to ensure you are familiar with the information below.

<aside> ⚠️ ShootProof can only track one tax rate per state, so if you live in a Destination state, this is not a good gallery to use as you will not be tax-compliant.

ShootProof is best used in Origin States or Destination States with ONLY ONE statewide rate.

In order to be sure you are set up properly for sales tax, make sure you understand your state sales tax laws and setup the tax screen in ShootProof properly.

Setup Sales Tax

In ShootProof, on the left navigation, go to Commerce→ Pricing

You will need to go into each pricing sheet you have and click on the tax rate at the top of the screen to open the tax setup screen for that price sheet.

You need to be sure these are set correctly on the tax screen. We will guide you below, but if you have any questions, please contact us in your client portal.

  1. This is the name of the tax. You can use something generic like “Sales Tax.”
  2. This is your tax rate. You will enter this, for example, “8.25%” Be sure to look up your rate based on your state's sales tax laws. Remember, Destination states where there are multiple tax rates are not a good fit for ShootProof.
  3. This needs to be your state, as you only need to charge sales tax in your state.
  4. Ignore this field. This is used for the UK.
  5. This should be checked off if you live in a state where digitals are taxable. You can check your sales tax laws here. State-by-State Sales Tax
  6. If you live in a state that charges sales tax on shipping, this should be checked off again; you can use State-by-State Sales Tax to look up your state sales tax laws.
