<aside> ⚠️ IRS regulations require us to issue 1099 forms to certain companies and individuals. To accurately prepare these forms, the IRS requires that we obtain and keep a W-9 form for all vendors, regardless of payment amount. If a contractor fails to properly complete and sign their W-9, we must delay future payments and begin 30% backup withholding.

Who is required to fill out a W-9?

• Anyone you pay for a service who is not an employee
• Anyone you pay rent to
• Attorney offices

Who is required to be reported on a 1099?

• Anyone above who is not an S-Corporation AND is paid $600 or more in the tax year.
